WHAT better way to spend your wedding anniversary than doing something to help others?

Mother-of-three Farzana Khattak will join hundreds of other runners, walkers and fancy dressers for the annual 5km Race For Life on June 24.

The parent-governor at Whitehall Infant School in Cowley Road, Uxbridge, hopes to raise £2,000 for Cancer Research UK.

“I always wanted to do something because cancer has devastated our lives,” she revealed.

“When I was just a teenager we lost our mum.

“I cannot actually do the research myself but I can help to raise money for research.”

Battling an injured knee that has hampered her training, Ms Khattak, of Braybourne Close, Uxbridge, who also volunteers at the toddler group at St Margaret’s Church in Windsor Street, Uxbridge, says she is determined to complete the distance at Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex off Gatting Way, Uxbridge.
