STUDENTS and graduates who want to start a career in advertising have until Friday (April 12) to sign up for an eight week programme.

Every year the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising runs Ad School - a summer school for students and graduates who want to break into the industry.

Two advertising agencies in the Hammersmith area are taking part this year – Rapp in Mabre Road and Leo Burnett in Avonmore Road. The IPA - a not-for-profit, professional body for advertising, media and marketing communications agencies – has been running the scheme since 2006.

The school runs from 1st July – 23rd August 2013, providing eight weeks of immersion into agency life. There are three streams: client services/planning, creative, and search.

As well as getting valuable work experience, the Ad Schoolers attend weekly evening sessions with leading industry experts – a great chance to learn and to network with experts and peers alike. Students will also take part in a group project, which will then be pitched to industry judges at the end of the programme.

Students participating in the Search Ad School can also take the IPA Search certificate and the Google Adwords exam for free – two highly respected industry qualifications.

Last year over 70% of 2012 students received extended placements or job offers.
