The council has apologised to a mother who has endured months of water pouring through the ceiling of her flat.

Candice Du Bois complained to Hammersmith and Fulham Council numerous times over the past 10 months but repair teams have failed to fix her problem, in Boxmoor House in the Edward Woods Estate, Shepherd’s Bush.

The mum-of-three has had to deal with water coming through the light fixture in her daughter’s bedroom every time it rains, soaking the carpet and causing mould to build up.

She says it has impacted on the health of her eight-month-old twin boys, and daughter, who has sickle cell anaemia.

Ms Du Bois said: “The bedroom is full of mould. It’s unlivable.”

Her mother, Sharon Gardiner, said: “The carpet is like a bog and the wallpaper is coming down.”

A maintenance team was sent out on Thursday last week (Jan 16) to try and fix the problem once and for all, caused by a faulty pipe between Ms Du Bois’s home and the balcony in the property above.

Councillor Andrew Johnson, cabinet member for housing, said: “We’ve apologised to Ms Du Bois for the problem she’s experiencing in her flat. Our repairs and maintenance contractor has previously visited the property to carry out repair work but clearly there have been further complications.”
