TWO THOUSAND properties were left without power after a blackout in Uxbridge last night.

The outage occurred at about 11.10pm and was triggered by a fault on a high voltage line.

Firefighters from Hillingdon and Hayes Stations were called to a series false alerts, as the blackout prompted alarms and calls to emergency services.

Power was restored to most properties by 12.15am but about 80 remained without electricity until 12.50 am.

Electricity provider Scottish and Southern Electric apologised for any inconvenience caused to customers.
