AN ELDERLY woman is desperate for help to remove a tree from her front garden which has crushed her car and left her without transport.

Marion Andrews, 80, was alerted to the fallen tree in part of her front garden in Fairacres, Ruislip, when neighbours knocked on her door in panic.

“I got a knock at the door and it was my neighbours, they were worried that I was in my car because it had fallen right on top of it.

“Thank goodness it is only on the car, and it’s not life and limb, but I do live on my own and it’s a 15 minute walk in every direction to the nearest bus stop and I need my car,” she said.

Her insurance company say they cannot repair her Honda Civic until the tree is removed, but no-one is taking responsibility for the removal of the tree, leaving Mrs Andrews (pictured) with nowhere to go.

“I really don’t know who to call," Mrs Andrews said. "The Council won’t do it and I don’t know who else I am supposed to ask. Everyone we go to is not interested, it’s helpless.”

She does not own the tree, which covers both hers and her neighbours front garden, but as it’s roots are on private property, Hillingdon Council have told Mrs Andrews they will not be able to remove it.

The tree fell at around 9.30pm last night (Tuesday). Mrs Andrews’ cousin Jean, who is helping at the house, said: “She is an 80 year old lady, and she can’t get out of her front garden unless she jumps over her rose bushes.

“You can't even see her car because it is buried underneath.”
