YOUNGSTERS at Fairholme Primary School have created a sculpture inspired by a visit to the National Gallery.

Pupils at the school, in Peacock Avenue, Bedfont, worked with sculptress Christy Avraam on a friendship pole for their playground.

The design is based on the painting Tobias and the Angel, at the gallery in Trafalgar Square and is decorated with motifs from the artwork, such as fish, dogs and angel wings.

The pole, which includes a box for pupils to post notes about their thoughts and worries, was unveiled on Wednesday last week.
