TWO musicians from the borough have made it through to the final of one of the country’s biggest ‘unsigned’ music competitions, despite a broken microphone forcing them to restart their song.

Two Little Boys, an acoustic guitar duo made up of Sean Barber, from Ruislip, and former Ickenham resident Mark Collins, received a standing ovation at the Beck Theatre in Grange Road, Hayes, after performing their catchy song about a social networking website.

It was the regional finals of the Live and Unsigned competition and now the pair can look forward to gracing a stage at the O2 Arena in Greenwich on July 14 for the grand final.

The band’s manager and Sean’s brother, Tommy Barber, told the Gazette: “They got another standing ovation after they finished, but they had to restart their song because the microphone was broken.

“The judges said it was brilliant, especially considering what happened, and the reaction they got was insane.”

Two Little Boys sang their song, Facebook, about the incongruity of a failed relationship reduced to online friend status, plus an Alison Moyet number.

This year’s Live and Unsigned final will star a performer from Ruislip for the second year running, after singer-songwriter Ashley Dawes made it to the O2 in 2011.

Other local acts, including Megan Gibson, Ten Pound, Mitsotu and Dom Durner, fell just short of the final.
