EVERYONE is invited to a raise the roof to save a roof.

The Harefield Ex Servicemen’s Club is facing closure if urgent repairs to the roof are not made soon and an all-day fundraising event is being held to raise money.

The whole village has cobbled together with most of the nearby businesses donating prizes for a raffle and tombola, or giving their free time to the fun day.

Between 1-5pm a rock and roll DJ will entertain, followed by retro band The Ramblers and the bar will be open for those wanting to enjoy an afternoon tipple.

Stalls selling handmade jewellery, jams and pickles, vintage style clothing, gift baskets, sweet trees, Valentine’s gifts, hand made hair accessories and table toppers will be on offer as well as a face painter and glitter tattoo artist for the children.

After an hour’s break, the evening event will kick off at 6pm with more bands and DJs and the grand raffle draw.

Rock and blues band, Craig Shaw and the Illuminators, will headline the evening.

“It will be a great shame if it has to close as it has a long history in the village with the Scouts Association and the British Legion,” said Dawn Bryant, one of the organisers.

The fundraiser is on Saturday, February 1 at the club, which is behind St Mary’s Church Hall in High Street.

Entry is just 50p.
