A retired Hammersmith postman has been forced to wear a cap to avoid being soaked by toliet water pouring through his ceiling light socket several times a week.

Aintree Estate resident Gladstone Palmer, 79, of Lannoy Point, Dawes Road, Fulham, has suffered for over a year from pints of brown toilet water leaking from the ceiling and down the walls of his H&F Homes council flat.

The grandfather, who has lived in his flat for 30 years, has been visited by H&F Homes officials several times, who told him the foul liquid is coming from one of the flats above.

An H&F Homes spokesman said: "We take this complaint very seriously and are fully investigating the circumstances."
