A 'cowardly' Shepherd's Bush man who broke his girlfriend's neck in an horrific domestic attack as has been found guilty of unlawful wounding.

Violent Kyle Fredericks, 23, of Lime Grove, Shepherd's Bush, admitted the crime but tried to claim self-defence.

But a jury at Isleworth Crown Court on Tuesday dismissed his defence and he will be sentenced in July.

Police had launched a £5,000 reward to track down Fredericks, who has previous convictions for robbing elderly people, after he fled the scene of the attack, which happened on October 13. He was eventually tracked down to a property in Acton.

Di Glyn Jones, in charge of the borough's domestic crime until, said muscular Fredericks, who has a scar from a dog bite on his arm, presented a clear danger to the public.

He said: "He has a history of violence and we were concerned while he was at large. This was one of the most extreme cases of domestic violence I have even been involved with and Fredericks is even more despicable in that he forced his victim to go through court because of his cowardly self-defence claim.

"I'm pleased to see the jury has seen through him and hope a period in jail will allow him to reflect on his actions. Nothing, though, can prevent his victim from living with the scars of his horrendous attack for years to come.

"Fredericks' conviction is a clear demonstration of our determination to track down people who commit domestic crimes. We have a dedicated team of officers who can help and support victims of domestic violence, no matter how small the offence."
