THIS week is Hillingdon Inter Faith Week, and there are a number of events going on around the borough to celebrate and highlight the work that helps build community relations.

The week will last up until November 21 and the Hillingdon Inter Faith network will be holding a number of events that will contribute towards their work of building understanding in the community between faiths and wider society.

The Hillingdon Inter Faith Network aims to strengthen good inter faith relations at all levels, increase awareness of the different and distinct fait communities in Hillingdon, celebrate and build on the contribution which their members make to their neighbourhoods and to wider society and to increase understanding between people of religious and non-religious belief.

The events taking place are...

Thursday 19 November - 9am-1pm - A conference for borough sixth formers and school leaders with members of parliament and others to consider Inter Faith issues in Hillingdon at the Guru Nanak School (Attendance by invitation only)

Thursday 19 November - 2-5pm - An exhibition at the Hayes Muslim Centre (drop in event)

Friday 20 November - 10am-2pm - Junior Inter Faith event for schools in the Yeading cluster - A chance for young people to come together and discuss what faith means in their communities. (attendance by invitation only)

Saturday 21 November - 10.30am-1.30pm - there will be a HIFM display at the Streets Ahead launch in Hayes.

Sunday 22 November - 10.45am - Attend and/or observe a Sunday Communion service followed by a tour at St Margerets Church in Windsor Street. (A drop in event)

Sunday 22 November - 11.30-12.30am - Come and observe part of the weekly worship at Hillingdon Baptist Church and have a look around the building after the service has finished. (A drop in event)

Tuesday 24 November - 8pm - 'A Jewish theology of other religions' - A chance to see Debbie Weissman, president of the International Council of Christians and Jews at Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue.

Thursday 26 November - 10am-12pm - HIFN Credit Crunch Lunch - A chance to drop-in for advice and support on benefits, housing issues 'health check'. This will be followed by a credit crunch crunch specifically aimed at Faith Leaders and others in the Hayes and Harlington area in liaison with the Streets Ahead initiative.
