A manhunt is underway after armed robber Ashley Waterman escaped from a secure mental health unit in West London.

Waterman is serving five years for armed robbery and had been taken from the Feltham Young Offender Institution to a secure unit in Uxbridge Road under a Mental Health Act assessment order.

Staff discovered he was missing at approx 1.10am on Saturday December 13.

He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, slim build, short light brown hair, fair complexion and when last seen was wearing a grey hooded top.

Waterman is known to have connections in Paddington. A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said he is considered dangerous and should not be approached.

On September 27 this year, convicted sex offender Ahmed Mohammed, 25, escaped from the same unit in Uxbridge Road.

A spokesman for West London Mental Health Trust said it was working with police.
