People with diabetes are invited to get free dietary advice and tips on healthy eating from experts tomorrow (17) at Tesco on Feltham High Street.

With 19,000 people with diabetes in Hounslow charity Diabetes UK have teamed up with the supermarket giants to create Enjoy Food, an event giving simple suggestions to make the condition more manageable.

Dietitians will hold live demonstrations about ways to save money as well as calories and how to eat five fruit and vegetables a day.

Roz Rosenblatt, Diabetes UK London manager, said: “People with diabetes often tell us that simple food decisions, like what to eat together as a family or how to introduce more fruit and vegetables, can cause great anxiety and concern.

"So we hope that knowing more about the healthy food choices available to them would have a hugely positive impact on their daily family life.

"That’s why we’ve developed the Enjoy Food events with Tesco, our National Charity Partner. It’s about making food enjoyable again for families living with diabetes.

"We look forward to meeting lots of new people and will show them that simple changes can make an improvement to your health.”

Diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2, is a condition where there is too much glucose in the blood because the body cannot use it properly.

Drop in to Tesco on 98 High Street, Feltham, and visit the Enjoy Food Stand, from 10am to 5pm tomorrow (17).

Two thirds of people who were tested during a diabetes roadshow last month in Hounslow were found to be at risk of developing the condition.
