YOUNGSTERS at The Heathland School, in Hounslow, got a surprise when England manager Martin Johnson turned up to lead their rugby training session.

The World Cup winner joined regular coach Alex Swift at the secondary school in Wellington Road South to put 25 pupils through their paces last Tuesday.

"When I told them he was coming they were over the moon and the coaching session was, of course, brilliant. They just couldn't wait to put all they learned into practice," said Mr Swift, who organised the visit with the RFU.

Martin Johnson was very impressed with what he saw, saying: "The skill levels and the commitment from all the boys on the day were excellent.

"Working with England ensures I always have a very busy schedule but on this occasion I was able to do some coaching and I hope Alex and the boys took something away with them from the session. I'd like to wish them every success for the future."
