A SHOP which was badly looted during the Ealing riots got a new lease of life with its reopening last weekend.

Seba Electronics in Uxbridge Road, West Ealing, suffered £150,000 of damage last month after it was attacked by thugs who made off with high-end audio and visual equipment. The store had been in the area for 40 years.

But the shop is now back on its feet and celebrated by throwing a party on Sunday (September 18) for Pitshanger FC’s youth teams, which it has been a sponsor of for the last eight years.
Owner Brij Sehgal said: “It was a fantastic day and it was wonderful to have the young people at our shop. We had a tea party for the children and gave them prizes like footballs and things like that.

“We originally sponsored them as we wanted to do something positive for the community and for the children that live in it.”

And business is better than ever as the rejuvenated store, with its new interior, has been attracting even more customers: “We’ve been doing ten times better now we’ve been re-fitted. We were insured so any shortfall that we have we can cover.”

He added: “It’s good to be back, but the looting didn’t affect me on a personal level. I was never going to have a heart attack over it and I don’t bear any grudges.”

David Keer, who coaches the Pitshanger FC youth teams said: “It was a great day and we had children there from the under 10s and under 15s team. Mr Sehgal has always been fantastic and been a great sponsor for us over the years.

“He’s going to have some more gear made for us, including hooded tops with the shop’s name on them. I think that’s actually quite ironic considering the people who did all the damage to his shop were wearing hoodies at the time.”
