Constituency history

From February 1974 to 2005 General Elections, Ealing North was a Labour-Conservative marginal seat won by the party forming the government, making it a bellwether seat.

This relatively long bellwether status ended when the coalition government 2010-present was agreed.

The Labour party’s Stephen Pound has represented the constituency for 18 years after replacing Harry Greenway in 1997.
