A 57-YEAR-OLD man has been charged over an incident alleged to have taken place in a barber shop.

Mohamed Shafi, of Burnt Oak Broadway, Edgware, was charged on Wednesday last week  with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in connection with an alleged assault two days previously in Raja Salon in Village Way East, Rayners Lane, at 1.50pm.

The alleged victim, 50, has been scarred for life by serious facial injuries and remains in hospital.

Shafti appeared before Hendon Magistrates' Court yesterday and was remanded back in custody.

The case was sent to Harrow Crown Court due to the gravity of the charge and there will be a plea hearing some time in June.
