The winners of Ealing Civic Society ’s award scheme which embraces interesting architecture have been announced.
Ealing Civic Society Chairman Dr Robert Gurd said the aim of the contest, which took place on Tuesday (November 25), was to embrace all kinds of buildings and designs and the chairman was impressed by the level of entries.
Highly Commended Awards went to:
- 25C Montpelier Road, Ealing (Villa Caroisla) - A four bedroom eco-home built using timber framing and passive solar design techniques
- 44 Mount Park Road extension, Ealing (Magic Box) - A transformation of a large double-fronted house in a conservation area with Scandinavian inspired cedar cladding and shutters creating a dynamic facade opening to the garden
- William Hobbayne Community Garden, St Margaret’s Road, Hanwell
- Notting Hill & Ealing High School extension, 2 Cleveland Road, Ealing.
A Commendation Award also went to Drayton Manor High School's Arts Centre, Drayton Bridge Road, Hanwell.
Mr Gurd said: “It's a very high standard - ranging from a new community garden to new domestic buildings and school facilities."
