A MUSIC festival featured performances from over 900 children across the borough.

Ealing Youth Prom saw 26 schools participating in the two day showcase at The Elms lawn, Twyford Church of England High School, on June 29-30.

For some groups such as St Mark’s Primary, Hanwell, and Acton High, this was the first time they had ever performed in public.

Others, however, including Twyford Gospel Choir and The North Primary School Stars from Southall are seasoned performers.

The event, sponsored by Hampton’s International Estate Agents, was organised working with the Ealing Music service and allowed a chance for students to show off what they had been doing over the course of the year.

Each night featured performances from the borough’s newest ensembles, known as the Collectives, which meant over 80 woodwind players on stage together on the Saturday and over 60 string players on Sunday.

Both evenings also concluded with a massed performance of ‘Jerusalem’ in a Last Night of the Proms style.

This was the second time the borough and Twyford have worked together to produce this festival and it is already firmly established as one of the prestigious occasions in the Ealing calendar which is set to continue for years to come.

Twyford’s Executive Headteacher Alice Hudson said: "This was truly an amazing event and a wonderful celebration of the extraordinary musical talent within the borough.

“The amount of hard work and commitment from a wide range of young people was an inspiration. Thanks should also go to the team of organisers who made this event what it was."
