A THERAPIST from Ealing Common is using her Moroccan family’s herbal remedies to help people combat stress and to look their best.
Born in Salé, Morocco, Hania Aouad grew up learning about holistic medicines from her aunt.
Ms Aouad, of Tring Avenue, Ealing Common, who moved to London 14 years ago, said: “My aunt used to travel all over north Africa and beyond with her father, who was a silk trader. They would be gone for three months at a time and she learned a lot from the people in the different countries.
The 52-year-old said: “With the knowledge she made skin potions which made her famous.”
Ms Aoud followed in her aunt’s footsteps and after working as a therapist in Portobello Road, she set up her business selling homemade beauty treatments in 2009.
Her training involved a class in making natural beauty products, as well as picking up a number of certificates.
As well as a range of 10 homemade beauty products, including oils, soaps and aftershaves, Ms Aouad offers therapeutic massage.
She said: "All the products have the same signature base of argan oil, frankincense, rose, orange blossom and rosemary. I don’t only do massage, but stretching and relaxation exercises also. They are really calming for mind and body.”
Ms Aouad believes that her products are the perfect antidote to the busy, stressful London environment.
She said: “The treatments are excellent for reducing stress. I believe when our body, mind and spirit are in balance we can connect with our inner-self.”
She runs treatments from her home and salons, and is hoping to expand the business across London.
She enjoys her work and said: “It brings me back to a beautiful time in my childhood, when my parents would mix herbal remedies”.
