THE two men who were killed last week in separate incidents where both fell into the path of oncoming trains at stations in Ealing have been named by police.

Chandrasekhar Gorle, 32, died after falling on to the tracks at West Ealing railway station on Armistice Day.

A Brazilian national, Marcello Almeida, 29, was killed on Sunday, November 8 at Ealing Broadway station after the driver reported seeing him jumping off the platform and onto the lines.

Mr Almeida, who lived in Marylebone area, was killed instantly by the 10.37pm Paddington to Bristol service as it approached Ealing Broadway station.

British Transport Police were called at 10.48pm and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

The line was closed for nearly an hour and was fully reopened after 98 minutes.

Mr Gorle, of Tooting, was said to have been talking on his mobile phone, close to the edge of the platform, before falling on to the lines at about 1pm on Wednesday November 11.

Neighbours reported seeing an air ambulance circling in the sky before landing in the Waitrose car park just behind the station. British Transport Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.

The train involved was the 12.57pm Paddington to Oxford rail service and the line was handed back to Network Rail at 2.15pm.

A senior manager of Ealing stations, said: "We are constantly trying to improve our safety record. We have recently installed anti-trespass matting and gating at the end of platforms.

"Staff are trained to keep an eye out for potential suicides but it's not always possible to know which person will do it and be on the right platform. Any fatalities have a huge emotional impact on the staff and we make sure they are mentally prepared for these incidents."
