EALING residents and members of the Ealing Amnesty International Group held a demonstration outside the Zimbabwean Embassy on the Strand, London.

The group’s Valentine’s Day demonstration was held in solidarity for the Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA) movement in Zimbabwe which, since its formation in 2003, has provided a united voice against the social, economic and human rights abuses in the country.

Ealing activists worked tirelessly for hours collecting signatures for a petition calling upon the Zimbabwean High Commission to end unlawful persecution of WOZA members as they attempt to protest peacefully in Zimbabwe.

Amnesty International, a global campaigning movement with more than three million supporters, members and activists, works to promote and protect human rights. The local Ealing group, founded in 1972, is a friendly, active and dedicated group of 30 local Ealing residents. Their activities involve raising awareness of Amnesty’s campaigns, fundraising and letter-writing.

The group meet on the second Saturday of each month, from 2:30pm-4:30pm, at the Questor’s Theatre, Mattock Lane.
