A CHARITY worker who helps provide a vital network for young mothers has been nominated for an award.

Elizabeth Andrew, 30, helps the mums support each other and deal with the many difficulties of successfully bringing up children.

Ms Andrew works for Coram, the first-ever children’s charity, which was established in 1739.

She runs a group for young mothers, as well as outreach services and a range of other support such as helping the mums find work and learn new skills.

Ms Andrew, who is based at the Sunlight Nursery in Hanbury Road, South Ealing, was nominated in the key worker category by Candice Dick of East Acton Lane, East Acton.

The 21-year-old single mother of Kyrelle, 23 months, said: “She has really supported me, everything from helping me find accommodation to writing a letter. If I didn't have her I don't know where I would be.

“She helps people all over Ealing and has helped me find volunteering placements to help me learn new skills. Although she’s a professional, she’s also a good friend.”

On hearing she had been nominated, Ms Andrew said: “I feel I just do my job. I'm honoured to be nominated but to see the young mothers progressing is the only thanks I need.”
