Ealing's Mums in Business have met with the Economic Secretary to the Treasury to discuss what support is available to entrepreneurs.

Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Andrea Leadsom MP, came to Ealing yesterday to discuss small business finance with the group which aims to support mums setting up as they start out in business.

Ealing entrepreneurs benefited from advice on start-up loans, childcare vouchers and bank charges.

Ideas were shared about different ways of making information about loans and grants more easily available so members of their group could better understand what support is available.

Shelley Henderson and Erin Thomas-Wong, co-founders of Ealing Mums in Business, said: "Huge thanks to Andrea Leadsom MP for coming to speak to our Members this afternoon about financial issues for small businesses."

"It was a great discussion and we look forward to hearing more about how the government can help us.

"Thanks to Angie Bray MP for making it possible, Chiswickbuzz.net for coming to film it, and to Magda at Artisan for hosting us in their gorgeous cafe!"

The meeting, filmed by chiswickbuzz, Chiswick's online TV channel, saw members of Ealing Mums in Business quiz the Treasury minister on a number of issues commonly faced by mums and dads starting small businesses.

The forum was set up by local MP Angie Bray (Ealing Central and Acton) and hosted in Artisan Coffee on Ealing Broadway.

Separately, Angie and the minister paid a visit to Metro Bank, next to Ealing Broadway station.

Metro, the first new high street bank chain in 150 years, is one of several new banks which the Treasury hopes will boost competition - giving consumers a better deal.
