EALING MP Angie Bray was left embarrassed after documents revealed she made a claim for a DVD of her maiden speech at the Commons.

The MP for Ealing Central and Acton claimed £11.75 for a recording of her maiden speech back in June, so the You-Tube style video could be used on her website.

Since coming to office, Miss Bray has claimed a total of £5,346.61, according to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, but said she genuinely thought she had paid for the video.

Miss Bray, said: "This was a video or DVD to put on my website for all those people who were not able to watch my maiden speech live. The speech addressed my constituency and many enjoyed the opportunity of seeing their new local MP's maiden speech.

"I genuinely thought I had paid for this and it's absolutely true that I do pay for all the running costs of my website and as a result I should pay for the cost of the video."

She added that the higher expense claims were due to her being a new MP and having start-up costs including headed paper and stationary.

Stephen Pound, MP for Ealing North, claimed a total of £1,972.64 including car mileage, printer costs and subscriptions to newspapers. But Virendra Sharma, MP for Ealing Southall, had no claims, according to the website.

Mr Sharma, said: "I only claim for staff and office running costs, travel whenever necessary and petrol costs."
