Members of the University and College Union (UCU) at all four sites of Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College will be protesting against funding cuts and job losses today (February 27) .

Lecturers are angry at the college's plans to make £5 million worth of cuts, which has put 85 staff at risk of redundancy.

The protests will involve staff and students going on strike between 12pm and 2pm at the campuses in Southall, Ealing, Acton and Hammersmith.

The union has said it is also planning to ballot its members a the college for strike action.

A union representative told the Chronicle they are planning to repeat the two hour protest every week for a month, but this has not been confirmed.

Tim Dalrymple, lead UCU negotiator at the college, said: “Staff have felt let down by senior management over a series of years and fail to understand why they must pay the price for mistakes made by those at the top. This protest is just the start of our campaign of opposition to these cuts.”
