Dunkin' Donuts has landed in Hounslow, sparking a delirious response on Twitter.

The US bakery giant is opening a new branch in Hounslow High Street, beside the lingerie shop Ann Summers.

It has yet to respond to getwestlondon's enquiries about when the store, which will be only the ninth in the country, will begin serving customers.

But news of its arrival already has prompted a frenzied sugar rush on social media sites.

Annet Gill tweeted: "DUNKIN DONUTS IS OPENING IN HOUNSLOW #lifecomplete #welldonehounslow"

Aaron Linstead reacted: "Hounslow seems to be slowly getting better... There's a Dunkin' Donuts now, and a Next & H&M on its way! All we need now is a cinema!"

Dunkin' Donuts opened its first UK branch in Harrow in December and currently has eight stores in the country, four of which are at motorway service stations, but is planning to open many more.

It joins Harris + Hoole in Hounslow High Street, where the cafe chain favoured by hipsters and yummy mummies opened in April.

Next and H&M are due to open at the Treaty Centre, in Hounslow High Street, towards the end of the year.

A public consultation on plans for a new development opposite ASDA in Hounslow, including shops, homes and a cinema, is expected to begin soon.
