A DRUG dealer who said he planned to keep using narcotics has been sent to jail for three years.

Knolly Sally, 49, of Sullivan Crescent, Harefield, was found guilty of possessing cocaine with intent to supply.

On sentencing him, Judge Zoe Smith said: "In the pre-sentence report you revealed that you planned to take drugs in the future and do not have any intention of giving them up."

The court heard the father and grandfather was found with two wraps of cocaine stashed in his underpants when searched by police.

Hamish Common, prosecuting, said Sally was asleep in his black

Vauxhall Astra in Cippenham Lane, Slough, when he was approached by police on July 3 last year.

He told the court that as police were speaking to Sally, he was seen trying to conceal a black carrier bag.

Mr Common said: "Inside the bag police found drug paraphernalia.

"There were drugs scales, cling-film, a home-made crack pipe and 4.89grams of cannabis."

Judge Smith, sitting at Reading Crown Court, was told that Sally was taken to Slough Police station and, during a search, officers found two small wraps of cocaine in his underpants.

The crack cocaine was worth £130 and the cannabis up to £11.

At the time of the offence, Sally was subject to a 12 month conditional discharge for criminal damage and battery.

A jury convicted Sally of one count of possession of class A drugs with the intent to supply earlier this year.

He had previously admitted the lesser charge of possession.

Sally was acquitted on a charge of possession with the intent to supply the cannabis, but had already admitted possession of the controlled drug.

However, Caroline Guiloff, defending Sally, said this had been lower level dealing.

"There is no evidence to suggest that he lived an extravagant lifestyle through selling drugs," she said.

"The defendant has said that he wanted to be a better person for his children and grandchildren.

"The hardest part for him of serving a custodial sentence is that he will be away from his family."
