ONE hundred officers descended on Brent in a series of dawn raids to seize drugs and firearms and arrest those who believe they are above the law living on the Stonebridge Estate.

The operation, codenamed Ladon, targeted 12 addresses across the estate and surrounding area as a result of a three month undercover investigation.

During the raids, which began at 5am this morning, officers recovered crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis, several thousands of pounds in cash and one firearm.

10 arrests had been made, all were men, but police were still searching addresses.

Officers from the MPS Brent Borough Tasking Unit, Borough Intelligence Unit and the Safer Neighbourhoods Teams, were supported by colleagues from the Territorial Support Group.

Detective Inspector Pete Wallis, from Brent Borough said: "The law abiding people of the Stonebridge Estate and surrounding area have previously been blighted by drug dealers and associated criminal behaviour.

"The operation demonstrates that with the help and support of the community we can arrest those criminals who seem to think they are above the law.

"No one is untouchable and we will continue to target prolific offenders involved in drug dealing and other criminality. We cannot allow people, perceived to be successful through their criminality, to have a negative impact on our communities; in particular young people.

"We would appeal for anyone with information about criminals operating in their communities to contact local police."
