A DRUG smuggler jailed after police found £3.6m of ketamine in his West Drayton lock-up has failed to get his sentenced reduced.

Rajpal Singh Bhatia was the UK arm of a smuggling operation to import large quantities of the increasingly popular drug.

The 39-year-old, of Rectory Park Avenue, Northholt, was caught after officers searched a container he had hired at a self-storage facility in West Drayton.

He was jailed for 11 years at Reading Crown Court in November last year, after being convicted of smuggling the class C drug.

Details of his crime emerged as he challenged his sentence at London’s Criminal Appeal Court on Wednesday, March 20, but the appeal was dismissed by three of the country’s top judges, who said the term was ‘severe, but not excessive’.
