A DRIVER escaped with minor burns after his van caught fire while he was driving down the road.

Firemen at the scene, in South Ealing Road, South Ealing, said the 38-year-old noticed smoke coming from the engine and seconds later it was ablaze.

A fire engine and five firefighters tackled the blaze at about 9am on Tuesday (19), which was under control within half an hour.

The victim was taken to Ealing Hospital by ambulance to be treated for his injuries.

The van was destroyed by the fire. The cause is under investigation.
