A ‘PIT-BULL type dog’ has been seized by police in a crackdown on dangerous dogs.
A dawn raid was carried out this morning by officers from Harlesden Safer Neighbourhoods Team supported by the Met Police police dog section and Brent Council animal welfare officers in Oldfield Road, Harlesden, after neighbours raised concerns of irresponsible dog ownership.
A dog, believed to be pit bull type, was found inside the property and has been seized under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
No one was arrested and the investigation is on-going.
PC Lee Tyrrell from Harlesden Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: "I would like to reassure the public that we take reports of dangerous dogs very seriously and will not tolerate animals being mistreated or being used for criminal purposes. We will continue to make Brent safer for residents and visitors."
