DISTANCE-markers will be put in more Ealing parks this year to encourage people to be active and healthy.

They will be spaced at even intervals along paths to show visitors how far they have run or walked.

Marker routes are already up in Southall recreation ground, North Acton playing fields and Lammas, Spikesbridge, Blondin, Pitshanger, Perivale, Ravenor and Southall parks.

More will follow in the coming months.

Julian Bell, the council leader who intends to take part in Ealing’s half-marathon in September, said: “The markers are fantastic for people of all fitness levels, from keen runners to those just starting exercise.”
