People working hard to protect the historic walled garden in Eastcote say they are disgusted by vandals who damaged and stole plants.

Plants that have been wrecked at Eastcote House Gardens include Crown Imperials – fritillaria imperialis – which have had stems broken and flowers snapped off.

Lesley Crowcroft, chair of the Friends of Eastcote House Gardens, said there had also been an outbreak of plants being stolen.

She asks for anyone who sees someone damaging or stealing plants in the walled garden, which is due for restoration if a Heritage Lottery Fund grant bid succeeds, to tell them to stop.

Reports can be made to her via email at lesley.crowcroft@tiscali.co.uk.
