I was disappointed to learn that the Kenmore Clinic was to close suddenly without consultation with users after a health and safety report showed just how badly the building had deteriorated.

The building is an old one so surely the PCT should have: a) been aware that it had got into a dilapidated state and; b) been able to consult with users prior to closure.

The clinic serves a population with some of the lowest levels of life expectancy in the borough, who clear-ly need easy access to healthcare.

At the meeting of the overview and scrutiny committee, members were assured that the site would be continued to be used for healthcare provision.

In the light of this the redevelopment should be prioritised so residents will once again have access to adequate local healthcare without having to make difficult journeys to other centres.
