Harrow Leisure centre has been forced to close after construction workers accidentally cut off its gas supply.

Councillor Chris Mote, portfolio holder for community and cultural services said: "On Monday (23) afternoon a digger hit a main gas pipe outside Harrow Leisure Centre, cutting off the supply to the entire building.

"The centre will remain closed today while engineers reinstate the supply and ensure all systems in the building are running safely.

"We are working as hard as we can to reopen the leisure centre as soon as possible.  This is likely to be Thursday afternoon, although the pool may be closed for slightly longer as it needs time to heat up.

"Members can use other facilities in the area, including Hatch End Pool, Vale Farm Sports Centre and Willesden Sports Centre.

"We would like to apologise for the inconvenience this has caused."
