PRESS and TV reports of this Government's scheme to meet pensioners' heating needs are very true.
Following a failure of my annually serviced gas boiler my Warmfront contractor advised me that the cost of the repair would trigger a Warmfront grant.
This was confirmed by the Warmfront office but was then rejected as I had not registered with them prior to the boiler failing.
Warmfront then offered to register my property saying it would take three weeks before a surveyor could attend. That was 12 weeks ago and since then I have heard nothing.
Having paid taxes over a 54 year working life, served my Queen and country and now an unpaid carer of two elderly citizens - one chronically ill - I am entitled to nothing.
The only beneficiaries of this appear to be the staff of Warmfront. Rather than working as an engineer I should have been a politician. I could have had my boiler repaired, or even replaced, on expenses.
