BRENT will be buzzing with activity during the jubilee weekend, with several exciting celebratory events planned.

Not only has Brent Council organised a bash, with more than 1,000 people expected to attend, but community groups and residents have also pulled together to mark the occasion.

Events planned for the festivities include:

* Brent Council’s ‘street party to end all street parties’ will take place on Sunday, June 3, at Wembley Arena Square.

The bash will run from noon to 4pm, with the area outside the arena turned into a ‘bunting-strewn’ backdrop for an afternoon of entertainment and food. In addition to this there will be live coverage of the Thames event, a fancy dress competition, and Alice in Wonderland performances.

* The Sudbury Town Residents’ Association is getting the community together for a party in Barham Park.

The event on Tuesday, June 5, is at 11am in the park. There is also a parade at noon which will go from St George’s Church, Harrow Road, via Butlers Green to Barham Park. Everyone is invited to the celebration, which will include food from around the world, live music, dance, photography and plenty for all the family.

* Library campaigners in Brent have organised a Family Jubilee Garden Party at a local pub to celebrate the jubilee and raise money and awareness for treasured local libraries. The Windermere Pub in Wembley will host the event on June 2 from 2pm to 5pm.

Visitors will be able to enjoy food including Indian cuisine and pizza, a bouncy castle, face painting and a raffle. The pub will serve alcoholic drinks as usual.

* The Church of Ascension in Wembley is hosting a party for all the family on Saturday, June 2.

The event will run from 2pm to 6.30pm at the church on The Avenue. Everyone is welcome to attend the bash, which will include a flower festival inside the church on the theme of the jubilee, the presentation of prizes for a themed art competition, and games in the grounds of the church.
