THE derelict Hayes Pool site was scouted as a location for the latest James Bond film.

Hillingdon Council confirmed it had negotiations with Eon Productions to hire the boarded-up centre, in Central Avenue, to shoot the latest Bond instalment, Skyfall.

The film company, based at Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath, would have had to clean up the site and provide round-the-clock security.

The filming dates and the hire cost were not finalised, and the deal has since fallen through.

The £200million blockbuster stars Daniel Craig in his fourth outing as 007, and is directed by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes.

It has been shot in other parts of the capital, including Southwark, Westminster, Canary Wharf and areas of East London and is due for release in the winter.

Hayes Pool closed in June 2010, just before the opening of Botwell Green Sports and Leisure Centre across the road. It has since been heavily vandalised.

There is planning permission to demolish the site and build flats, but the property was taken off the market last spring because there were no bidders for it.
