A MAN is protesting outside the Civic Centre in Uxbridge over plans to demolish a part of the borough's heritage.

He is angry that a historic water feature outside an old pub on Uxbridge Road, Hayes, is to be knocked down and is hoping to prevent it.

The water feature is outside the old Wagon and Horses pub, which was built in 1932, but it is believed the water feature has been there far longer.

The man, who did not wish to be named, said: "It's been there 200-300 years, it is a bit like knocking down Windsor Castle, there's not much heritage in Hayes, we should look after it.

"It should have a preservation order on it, but they've started bulldozing the area around it, I don't know who decided they could.

"I'm trying to bring a bit of attention to it, this is actually my tenth demonstration outside here."

His protest includes a sandwich board with a message to Hillingdon Council asking where the pump is.
