MORE than 60 people turned out to hear how proposals to build a ‘care community’ at the Medi Parc site will affect the village.

People filled the Park Lane Village Centre for
the Harefield Tenants
and Residents Association (HTRA) monthly meeting, on Monday last week, which included a question and answer session with Dr Bahbak Miremadi, director of care company Red and Yellow.

Red and Yellow proposes to build a 400-home centre specialising in the care of dementia sufferers at the site, in Hill End Road.

“The general feeling is that people don’t want it,” said Paul Stone, HTRA chairman. “Traffic is a huge concern and of course the site is in the green belt.”

He said he was ‘sitting on the fence’, acknowledging that dementia is a national issue which needs to be addressed.

“We can’t bury our heads in the sand, but I am just not sure Harefield is right for this development.”

He was resigned to the fact though that the Medi Parc land would eventually be built on.

“Even if this doesn’t go ahead, what else will we get? They won’t leave it alone.”

Dr Miremadi thanked the community for attending the meeting and promised residents’ worries would not be ignored.

“We absolutely take on board the understandable concerns of the Harefield residents, notably around traffic, parking and sensitivity of developing in the green belt,” he said.

“We have an excellent team of specialists looking at all these issues and will come back with concrete proposals to address them.

“If we do get permission to go ahead with the development, we want to be good neighbours and contribute positively to the community which we
will then be part of, so
we really do see the residents’ concerns as our own.”

Red and Yellow held a public consultation in October and is now in talks with Hillingdon Council and potential local stakeholders.

No indication has yet been made as to when plans will be filed.
