TESCO has taken over the high street in Yiewsley, it seems.

The new roadworks are now dotted with men in yellow Tesco jackets.

I hope the traders in the town are prepared for what is about to hit them - a whirlwind and a big drop in their sales.

The Tesco superstore will kill the town for sure, so we all have to be ready for the closing down sales that will inevitably come after the store has opened.

The road plan so far looks totally inadequate to keep the traffic flowing towards Heathrow and the motorway.

The traffic will tail back both ways towards Uxbridge and Heathrow. It will be a nightmare.

We don't know if the store will be open 24 hours, but even so, it will add to your journey time and petrol costs.

Perhaps they might close the town to traffic, and make it a pedestrian zone. That way, Tesco's can be sure to grab every punter going that's got a car.

I have seen the decline of the shops in Yiewsley and West Drayton and it is very sad.

All that these towns now seem to offer is fast food and takeaways, and the rubbish that accumulates from them.

There is the pound shop, of course, the betting shops, casino and pawn shop, so it's not all bad news.

Let's have some decent shops in our local towns, please.
