A QUIET Shepherd’s Bush street is being used as a giant rubbish dump by irresponsible Uxbridge Road traders, according to one furious neighbour.

Interior designer Monika Kownaty-Pienkowska, 43, says traders’ rubbish is attracting rats in Devonport Road.

She says traders refuse to dispose of their waste properly and claims noise from early morning deliveries has become unbearable.

After 'five years of trying and failing to get the council to act', she took a series of photographs highlighting the conditions on the road, which show rubbish strewn on pavement and delivery vans arriving at 5am.

Miss Kownaty-Pienkowska said: “The street has been turned into a giant rubbish bin. I have been fighting this for years, but the council wants to do nothing about it. These shops are irresponsible. Shops have been receiving deliveries between 4am and 6am and the constant crashing of metal and shouting is unbearable. I have seen shop owners throw out rubbish with no regard for the state of the street.”

Wajid Khan, of Ali Halal, says his shop only takes deliveries after 10am and that none of the rubbish comes from the premises.

“We have been here 45 years and have paid someone for that time to take our rubbish away. None of it is commercial waste.”

Deputy leader Greg Smith said: "We have asked this lady to contact us several times as soon as a late night delivery arrives. We intend to visit the site for five days between midnight and 3am to gauge the level of noise. We will also be investigating the littering problems."
