A VIOLENT man who attacked his victim with a metal pole and pelted his car with bricks has been sent to prison.

Darrell Roberts, 19, of no fixed abode was sentenced to six years in prison following an attack on a man with a metal pole, which caused him serious head injuries.

Roberts also caused extensive damage to the victim’s car by throwing bricks at it in the attack in Roundwood Road, Willesden, in August last year.

He was sentenced to six years in prison at Harrow Crown Court on Tuesday May 13 after being found guilty by a jury in March of serious wounding with intent and criminal damage.

He had already admitted breaching a three year Anti-Social Behaviour Order, which commenced on July 4 2012.

On Tuesday August 20 Roberts led an horrific attack, along with other members of a Wembley gang, on a 35-year-old man as he drove along Roundwood Road, Willesden.

Roberts attacked the man with a metal pole, causing serious injuries to his head that required stitches and also caused extensive damage to his car by hurling bricks at it.

The attack was witnessed by the victim’s wife who was with him at the time.

Roberts must serve a minimum of two thirds of the sentence and was issued an extended licence period of three years to run after this, for the assault.

He was also given six months imprisonment, to run concurrently, for criminal damage to the car.

DC Brett Skowron of Brent Police said: “I would like to thank the victim and witness for showing great courage and for their assistance throughout this investigation and the trial. I am pleased with the sentence imposed by the court. Roberts was subject to an ASBO to prevent him committing offences on Brent, this sentence now ensures that.”
