A FATHER of four has become a role model to troubled youngsters by using sport to keep them off the streets.

Scott Osborne, a behavioural consultant for Ealing Council, has mentored youngsters for many years, both at work and in the community.

The 41-year-old was nominated by Joel Carvalho, who said: “His role stretches far beyond his day job.

“He is an active member of his community sports club and uses sports as a way of providing a therapeutic outlet for young people who are on the verge of choosing a more anti-social path.

“He is always ready to give of his time to members of the community and any individual who has been touched by Scott will be able to vouch for his nurturing and accepting approach to them.

“For 14 years he has helped members of the community as well as the professionals at school or in the council where he works.

“He continues to enhance and better the lives of those he comes in contact with.

“He is never one to look for recognition and believes that helping others is his duty.

“I firmly believe that his tireless dedication to Ealing needs to be appreciated.”

Scott, who has also worked with young people in care, said: “I do a lot of mentoring with young people and found sport to be a good outlet.

“We all love to play, even adults. In this busy world we forget how to play.

“It’s a way of communicating, helps us forget our troubles and feel good about ourselves.

“I prefer to focus on people’s strengths, rather than their weaknesses.”
