A CYCLIST is in hospital after a collision with a police car in Brentford at the weekend.

Officers from Hounslow were responding to an emergency call on Sunday night (at about 10.10pm) when they hit the man in his 40s at the Brentford High Street junction with Catherine Wheel Road.

The police are said to have had their blue lights flashing at the time of the collision, and the cyclist was taken to a West London hospital and is said to be in a serious condition.

The two police officers were also taken to hospital for treatment of shock but have since been discharged.

A police spokesperson said: "This is being investigated by officers from the Collision Investigation Unit. Police are trying to establish a next of kin."
