A cyclist was rushed to hospital after being hit by a Maserati sports car in Parsons Green this morning.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was hit by the car after she had reportedly fallen off her bicycle at the junction of Parsons Green and New King's Road at around 7.40am.

Police officers on patrol discovered the woman in the road.

Witnesses talking to the Evening Standard said the scene was sickening, with one describing blood pouring from the woman's head as she lay in the road for up to half an hour before an ambulance arrived.

They reported a florist working nearby said: "I found the lady lying down on the floor on my way into work.

"I came in and she was there for a long time before the ambulance came. She was there for 20 or 30 minutes. The police had covered her in a foil blanket."

A spokeswoman from London Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 7.39am to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a cyclist in Parsons Green.

"Two ambulance crews treated a woman reported to be in her 30s for facial, arm and shoulder injuries. She was taken to St George's Hospital as a priority."

A police spokesman added: "Officers on patrol in Parsons Green discovered a cyclist who is believed to have fallen before being in collision with a Maserati.

"London Ambulance Service attended and the woman remains in a stable condition. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."
