A CYCLIST was airlifted to hospital on Friday after being knocked off his bike in Mandeville Road, Northolt.

The 29-year-old man was found lying on the corner of Carr Road just before 2.30pm, and traffic quickly built up as cars and buses passed the scene slowly while paramedics stabilised the victim.

A black mountain bike lay on the kerb while the windscreen of the black Vauxhall estate was shattered on the driver's side.

A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We recorded just before 2.20pm on Friday, October 28, to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a cyclist on Carr Road.

"We sent an ambulance crew and a single responder in a car and London Air Ambulance to the scene. Our staff treated one patient, a 29-year-old man, who was stabilised on the scene and taken by the air ambulance to the Royal London Hospital."

Passersby looked on in shock as the victim was carried away with a brace on his left leg.

One, who asked not to be named, said: "We didn't see the crash but we stopped when the ambulance arrived. It's really scary. He was just lying on the ground. You can see a big dent in the window, he must've hit it really hard."
