It is very interesting to note that, after all last week's hype, locally petrol prices have not fallen below £1 per litre for unleaded and are still sitting at £1.02-£1.03 (at the time of writing).

This seems to be because there are no Asda or Morrisons petrol garages locally to drive down competitors' prices.

Tesco and Sainsbury's garages have felt confident to not pass on the oil price reduction, along with the big fuel companies.

Even Gordon Brown is saying petrol stations should be passing on the savings from the fall in prices, but it is worth highlighting the lip service the big companies pay to this.

So in Hounslow and Richmond we do not benefit and the companies are still profiteering by keeping petrol prices high.
