A REVOLUTIONARY 3D shopping experience is to commence in Uxbridge in a four week trial, with shoppers able to hire glasses to make the stores come to life.

The trial begins today at the Mall Pavilions in Uxbridge High Street, following the recent success of 3D cinema.

Customers will be able to enjoy a 'completely unique' retail experience by renting 3D glasses from the Ask Me points in the Mall.

Annemarie Collier, Marketing Manager at The Mall. "When used in conjunction with specially re-engineered merchandise in our shops the glasses create a new depth of vision and reality.

"Many products have already been adapted for the new media and scientists have been pleased with the prototypes developed in 3D.

"The technology for this innovation has only recently become available and our shoppers will be the first to try out what we are sure will soon become a regular part of shopping for everyone."

Dr Gabriel Hoffman, who had trialled the experiment, said: "As I walked through the Mall, a member of staff literally leapt out at me and asked if I was a member of the AA - it was like being in a Cinema.

"It's like watching Avatar except with more mobile phone shops."

People experiencing the 3D effect for the first time are advised to take things slowly and avoid sensory overload.

If the 3D shopping trial proves a success, The Mall have a series of further technological innovations in the pipeline including, 'digital fragrance dissemination', 'touch sensitive merchandise', and 'surround sound'.
